NEUROMA

Morton's neuroma is a painful condition that affects the ball of the foot, most commonly the area between the third and fourth toes. It is caused by a thickening of the tissue surrounding a nerve leading to the toes. Symptoms of Morton's neuroma include a sharp, burning pain in the ball of the foot or the affected toes, as well as tingling, numbness, and a feeling of having a pebble or rock in the shoe. Treatment for Morton's neuroma may include wearing shoes with a wider toe box, using orthotic inserts or pads, taking over-the-counter pain relievers, corticosteroid injections or surgery to remove the affected nerve.
