BUNIONS

A bunion is a bony bump that develops at the base of the big toe, often causing the big toe to point inward toward the other toes. This condition can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, improper footwear, and certain medical conditions such as arthritis. Symptoms of a bunion may include pain or discomfort in the affected area, particularly when walking or wearing shoes, as well as redness, swelling, and a visible bump on the side of the foot. Over time, bunions can become increasingly painful and may even make it difficult to walk or perform daily activities. Treatment options for bunions include wearing properly fitting shoes with a wide toe box, custom orthotics and and in many cases, surgery to correct the deformity.
